Rhopilema are dominating this month!

This month has seen large numbers of Rhopilema hispidum washed up on the beaches all over Hong Kong. Over 100 of them were caught in the Cheung Sha beach swim net in one beach survey! It is likely that the strong east winds brought more of them in close to the shoreline to get stranded.

Please be careful out in the water as stings have been reported by swimmers.

Volunteer with the Hong Kong Jellyfish Project! Do something meaningful this summer.

The Hong Kong Jellyfish Project is looking for nature enthusiasts who can volunteer some time to conduct jellyfish surveys on beaches and on ferry routes. These surveys could take place near you and can be done in combination with other fun activities or on your way travelling across Hong Kong. See www.hkjellyfish.com/volunteer to learn more.
