I'm so excited because many of these look doable for me. I just have to put them on the calendar so I won't forget.

Hmmm... wonder if any Houston folk want to take a little road trip. 🤔😁

Stay tuned for more details on all of these! :)

HAGERMAN! Are we going to be allowed to be on site after or before usual hours?!

I'm soooo excited for this.

Will try for the Del Rio one work permitting. Will make Hagerman unless something major comes up.

Please please please tell me we can moth at Hagerman!

Looks like some super fun events! I'll try to go to Del Rio, I've been wanting to go back there for a long time. Is it a limited event?

Sam our chapter (Blackland Prairie) just scheduled a mothing event for Sat, Sept 21, at Connemara Meadow in Allen. Details re where to park, where we’ll gather, to follow. Fellow moth-ers are welcome!

So, the Hagerman and the Del Rio bioblitzes are organized by the @texasnaturetrackers -- hopefully they are able to provide us with some more details! :)

Hello! Regarding the Devil's River SNA BioBlitz - the Texas Nature Tracker will be hosting a BioBlitz Oct 4-6. At this moment, we are still limiting registration to local biologists and naturalists in the Del Rio area. That being said, we still have plenty of space to fill and will open up registration to state wide biologists and naturalists September 1. If you are interested, please mark you calendar for Sept 1 to check the journal here: https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/devil-s-river-sna-dan-a-hughes-unit-bioblitz, and mark your calendar to possibly join us Oct 4-6. It will be an extremely rugged BioBlitz (camping, no electricity, no flush toilets, backcountry desert conditions, heat and no cell service), but it will be an incredible and rare experience.

Not making the Del Rio one for sure but I hope y'all have a lot of success.

Any word on being allowed on Hagerman after dark for that bioblitz? I'd love to set up blacklights in the butterfly garden and road cruise/night hike for snakes.

Are there any more details about the one in Prosper Thursday night? There are two Town Lake Parks, apparently, so not sure which is the one the blacklighting is at.

Thanks @jblinde -- I've updated that address of Town Lake Park -- we're a bit in the air on the afternoon bioblitz though... It'll be like 104 degrees!!!! So, we may not do that then. :-/

I felt like this month instead of an outdoor bioblitz it might be fun to try an "iNat ID Party" of sorts! Aug 31st at the Trinity River Audubon Center.
After a bit of iNat101 for any uninitiated, we'll bust out our field guide collection and work together to ID observations! So if you're wanting a chance to hang with some inatters in the air conditioning, it'd be rad to see ya! Not sure that this qualifies for the list, but wanted to let y'all know :)

@wendelia thanks for the info!

Just FYI -- we've cancelled Thursday's afternoon bioblitz (it'll be like 104 degrees!), but we ARE still doing the blacklighting at Town Lake Park in the evening! :)

For anyone planning to attend the Sept. 21 mothing event at Connemara Meadow in Allen, I wanted to let you know there aren’t any external power outlets there…your setup will need to be self-powered. In addition, I’ll add parking guidance etc. for the event here once I receive it from our chapter organizers.

Here are the parking options for the Connemara Meadow event: Option 1: Park along Albright Dr (Plano). There’s a concrete trail. Head east on the trail into the Connemara property and follow the signs to the pecan orchard area.; Option 2: Park at Suncreek Park, 601 Alma Dr. (Allen) go east on the paved path into the meadow, and follow the signs to the pecan grove. For both options, you’ll need to hand carry or wagon your black light setup into the meadow.

We have an aquatic bioblitz at TRAC on Saturday October 26th at 10 am! We'll scoop for macroinvertebrates in the pond and then head back to the wet lab (with microscopes!) to look through what all we found! We've found Western Lesser Sirens a handful of times while scooping during the last year, so fingers crossed one of them makes an appearance!
