I've tried several times to describe the call of male Red-winged Blackbirds---never with complete success. A trill, a squirt gun that shoots music, or maybe the acoustic equivalent of a glance at a bright, possibly even triumphant, flag, rippling in the wind. No matter what it sounds good.

Love it! Thanks
Gawd, I love that description..."a squirt gun that shoots music"! My only sign of Spring so far is the return of Pine Siskins. (At least, I think they're out there today. I can't see them through the fog!)
