This morning I walked with the group and went to the Hammond Pond Reservation (I think that's what it's called). It was hard to get out of bed, but I'm glad I went. I thought about how we discussed genetic diversity and wondered how the different fungi observed were related genetically. I noticed that the bonnets, straight-stalked entoloma, and deceiver (assuming these are the correct speciations) had a similar shape while the other two did not. I was surprised to see this little forest so close to upper campus. I think I'll probably check it out again when I feel like going on a walk. My friend and I saw a little pond near the fungi. I would go and check that out the next time I go. I also noticed that fungi mostly grows on trees. The weather was rainy, so everything was damp. I enjoyed the air (forest air just hits different) in the forest, it's a good change of environment. I'm excited to see other nature settings near campus.
