Idaho Monarch Tracking 2021

Sorry it has taken me this long to get a journal post out for 2021. There were 16 observations of Monarchs in Idaho for the year. All 16 are research grade. There were 9 adults and 7 larva observed between July and October. As this is the first full year I have tracked this data, I cannot compare it to past data I have collected.

Observations: 16
Research Grade: 16
Adult: 9
Pupa: 0
Larva:7
Egg: 0
Dates seen: 6 July to 17 October

Thank you to all the observers!

This year might be a much better year for them. Heidi mentioned multiple sightings at the IBO Riverside Site / Diane Moore Nature Center. And then today Katie and I saw larva/caterpillar at both the CJ Strike Dam Area and Jack's Creek, and then saw a couple adults at Ted Trueblood WMA. I will post those on here today.

Yeah I think there is 28 posts with many of them being in the treasure valley. I got a rather bad picture the other day of one on Howe Road when we were looking for Bobolinks. We saw one at squaw creek a month or so ago but it was too quick for a picture.
