I am a retired biologist of 41 years with a primary interest in botany, taxonomy, and plant community evaluation. Currently I am familiarizing myself with the biology of the western Chihuahuan Desert and the Rio Grande riparian plant communities in the vicinity of Las Cruces, NM. At this time I'm preparing a digital image file and summary table of pollinators and their predators that use the small and linear whorled milkweed (Asclepias verticillata) and climbing milkweed (Funastrum cynanchoides) stands and patches immediately adjacent to the riverbank and accessible via the bike path (a distance of ~4 miles). This file will be provided to interested professionals (NM Native Plant Society, NMSU Entomologists and taxonomists, and land managers: City of Las Cruces, Town of Mesilla, Mesilla Bosque State Park, and others) upon completion and individual representative and/or unique images will be posted on this website for others to use.
