I studied Geology but my interests have always lain broadly in natural history. I taught Biology and Chemistry in schools for a time, whilst working as a volunteer at the Natural History Museum, London. Later I worked as a docent at the George C. Page Museum in Los Angeles and at these 'La Brea Tar Pits' I had the great opportunity to work in the onsite Palaeontology laboratory, sorting Pleistocene microfossils and preparing specimens such as sabre-tooth cat and Columbian mammoth bones.

One of my most enduring interests is spotting cetaceans. I was lucky enough to spend a season observing for the American Cetacean Society-LA Gray Whale Census, and have spotted a variety of whales and dolphins on trips around California, Hawaii, and SW Australia.

I am currently a scientific collaborator for the MNHN in Luxembourg and learning everyday.
