Fungi Oberservations (Lab 5)

From my fungi observations, I chose to focus on the Genus Trametes. It is distinguishable by its spores, which are non-dextrinoid and smooth, as well as their pileate basidiocarp. Although they are not eaten by human and don’t have any medicinal purposes, they are essential for caterpillars and certain moths as a food sources. This species is also of interest in biotechnology due to the lignin-degrading enzymes which could be helpful industrial or environmental sciences to degrade certain materials.
