Biol Lab 5 Journal

The fungus I chose to investigate is Cerioporus squamosus more commonly known as dryad’s saddle. Dryad’s saddle is an edible mushroom that is best pick young due to its tendency to become infested with maggots later in life. Dryad’s saddle was also used to make paper due to its size and thickness. The stalk can grow up to 5cm long. They tend to fruit between April and May but are also found outside that window as can be attested by when I found my sample. It’s also been said that the pores of the mushroom smell like watermelon interestingly enough.
