White-throated sparrow - Zonotrichia albicollis
Abundant at this site.
Hermit Thrush - Catharus guttatus
Common wintering bird in this area, but I guess very rare as a breeder in North Carolina, so listed as "EN" by iNaturalist.
Brown Pelican - Pelecanus occidentalis (immature--1st or 2nd year bird, I guess)
Location: Durham NC (USA), about 150 miles (240 km) from the coast.
I saw this on a rare bird alert while about to head out for some botanizing. Stopped by, and there it was. I am embarrassed not to have been the one to find it, as it is a 10 minute walk from my house and I walk around this lake most days. I had noticed an active group of cormorants fishing a few days ago. I scanned the lake for interesting waterfowl, but paid the cormorants no mind. Likely missed it--DOH!
