Meet Kopsia obscura, a newly described species known only from cultivation. It first appeared in cultivation in Chatuchak Market in Bangkok, Thailand. Nobody knows where this plant came from (hence the epithet 'obscura'), but it has been seen in landscapes sometimes due to its profuse deep pink blooms which adorn the small shrub. Middleton (2023) suspects that it may have originated from either Myanmar or Laos, as these nations are known for their poorly represented flora due to infrequent plant collections for herbariums. Despite this, there is a chance that this species could also have originated from anywhere else in the South-East Asian region.
UPDATE: Tried to flag this for curation, not sure if it worked. I guess more concrete evidence (perhaps evidence that said species is in the POWO database?) is needed for the taxon to be accepted in iNat, even though I've given the link to the paper which describes K. obscura as a new species.

Aberrant individual. The other capitula within the same plant were normal.
