This mistletoe was found growing on a Eucalypt on the side of a road, and there were many individuals on this tree, as well as surrounding trees. It is currently flowering, and the flower contains long, red showy filaments.
Looking at Les Robinson’s 2003 book “Field Guide to the Native Plants of Sydney”, this species should be Amyema pendula as the middle flower of each cyme is sessile (pictures 2-4).
Spotted this Pale-headed Rosella in a Crepe Myrtle bush in my front yard. Have never seen this species before, at least not in my local area. Also present was a Crimson Rosella (not in photo), and the two birds seemed to be companions. Before I could snap any more photos, the two slightly nervous pair moved to a nearby tree, then flew away shortly thereafter.
Growing on bare rock immediately next to a stream. Approx. 1-2 cm across
A male was working on his bower when I came and watched him for a few minutes before he saw me. Second image was his handiwork
