mcdonabe's Identifications

Herbaceous undergrowth about 2 feet high. Green slightly pubescent stems fading to red with alternative nodes. Leaves palmate about 3 inches across, dull green upper surface with many cross palmate venation, light green under surface with 5 prominent mid veins, slightly pubescent. Leaf margin entire with apiculate and obtuse apices. Raceme inflorescence with dark indigo flowers and light indigo buds. Flowers bilaterally symmetrical 1 inches across, horn shaped with 4 indigo elliptic sepals, one twisted into an apical nectar tube. 4 petals, 2 white and on basal side, two others indigo on the sides bent at a 90 degree angle. <20 dark bluish black anthers on dark purple filaments. Superior ovary with 3 locules with axile placentation.
