Description

The glabrous, dark green, lustrous, cuneate leaves of this species are apparently relatively distinct among Crataegus sp. in the region. This plant also keys out exactly to C. succulenta in Flora of the Chicago Region

Edit: Leaf pubescence for C. succulenta might be more variable than I initially thought. Some references say it can be pubescent. But the leaf color and texture here are still generally distinct among Crataegus sp. in the region
