Thylacine print found
Headless wallaby with inner body parts removed.
Please note that thylacines are blood feeders and eat the inside of the animal.
This is one found with others reported across Gipsland and Australia.
The extra 2 teeth were designed to remove heads of the prey to feed on the internal organs.
Joey Thylacine prints.
Mother prints also discovered on the same track line.
Possibly exiting the pouch
One animal. Got one photo of it swimming then of it emerging onto the bank (second image). White tail is clearly visible in second photo. First time in years that I have seen a rakali in this particular spot.
Was actively climbing up thick stems of blackberries and very unafraid of us. Was spotted alongside 2 brown bandicoots. Was much smaller than them, ~9cm without tail length. Didn't see it moving clearly on ground due to grass cover. Was seen near dust, at 430pm
Deceased. It had been cut in half just behind the shoulders. No sign anywhere in the vicinity, of the missing head and shoulders with front legs. This is in the middle of the park, on a creek-flat, not anywhere near a road; however, the council's mower men - driving an absolutely enormous ride-on tractor-mower at high speed.. a juggernaut! - were charging through the park yesterday. No worry about pouch young; this animal was male.
