Tiny white-tipped perigynia. Flopped-over rhizomatous plant with wiry leaves < 1 mm. Leaves somewhat shorter than culms. Found on trail in mixed-wood at White Cedar edge of Ottawa River. Calcareous parent material.
Brownish basal sheaths with short white hairs. Leaves to 6.5 mm.
Terminal spikes staminate, 2.5-3.0 cm. Lateral spikes 2-5, widely spaced proximally, increasingly closer together distally.
Perigynia with numerous impressed lines. Bent perigynium beaks. Perigynia ~5.0 mm long.
Small, only growing to about 26cm. Growing in soil pockets within bed rock.
