This very beautiful and colourful bird is a winter visitor from the Himalayas. The Blue Capped Rock Thrush breeds in the foothills of the Himalayas and winters in the hill forests of Southern India. Clicked it among the Sholas of Nilgiris.

The Hunt for the Elusive Bird - Saw it a few times but always had to reconcile with a very long shot (last one was at 75mtrs)... Spent two days observing the bird pattern before actually deciding to place myself at a suitable location and hope and wait. Got him on the third day, eye level, close, crisp and sharp. Posed for a few seconds only.

Went again at the same location after a month saw him sitting 25mtrs away, but this time with quite a bit of clutter .. got him through thick foliage.
