This little Dekay's Brownsnake was sitting coiled like this on the sidewalk near the visitor center of the Bentsen Rio Grande State Park. I was surprised that it just sat there.
After I got done taking photos, I decided to move the snake into the bushes. When I tried to lift it up, I figured out its head and tail end were stuck to a spot of sticky resin on the sidewalk. I peeled it up gently and released it.
Nature's own glue traps?

This Blue Jay represented the 1st photographed record for the Lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas. It was found by Chuck Sexton (@gcwarbler) and Greg Lasley. This was part of a large Blue Jay invasion into parts of south Texas which began October 16, 1984. There is a write up on all this in North American Birds, Vol. 39, No. 1, p:77 and eBird info on this record is at:
https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S17047053
I may transcribe the Blue Jay invasion info here at a later time if I get the time. Image scanned from a 35 mm slide.
This image is in the Texas Photo Record File at Texas A&M University as the first photo record of this species in deep south Texas.
