Specimen:
3.5cm to 2cm in length
Cap Size: .4-.6cm
Coloration:
Cream colored cap with gradual transition about halfway down the stipe to a darkened brown foot
Specimen found growing on log that was submerged in water. Half of the specimen's stipe was under water.
Habitat: Inundated sphagnum area with a mix of Hemlock, Birch, Maple and Rhododendron

Description
Growing from standing dead birch in mixed woods, predominantly hemlock; two specimens apprx. 6-7 & 10 foot up tree.
Spore print pink, spores smooth with apiculus measuring 6x4.5 um, Qe=1.3. Pileipellis in cutis (photo 9), abundant pleurocystidia, many with hooks, measured three all projecting apprx. 50 um above surface.

On quartzite boulder in full sun at base of quartzite cliff. Several mature individuals of the species on the same boulder. None had apothecia or soredia/isidia. All were loosely attached to the substrate and had strap-like lobes. Black underside. Medulla P+ orange, K+ instantly yellow turning red and then brown.
