Description
There were many robust plants done flowering and with lots of seed pods. A few had remains of flowers at the top; this one appeared to be one of the last to have opened.

I detained this snake for a bit to get the photo. It responded by biting me. No surprise. They have very small and very sharp teeth, by the way. They are significantly more restless, and inclined to bite, than Lampropeltis Californiae/California King Snake.

Description
Found next to a large fallen tree on Rhododendron trail near the main road, adult found eating a juvenile. Juvenile appeared to be dead already, adult was alive but not moving or attempting to swallow, just holding the other in its mouth. Conditions were dry and sunny.
