Description
On cultivated aster. If I'm right then this would be an example of the bees brought to the Lower Mainland from eastern Canada having further "naturalized". The closest iNat observation (Aug 2021) I can see to us is more than 50 km away. The only Bombus I have been seeing for the past few weeks has been our black and yellow Pyrobombus (Vosnesenskii/Caliginosus). Almost all very small individuals.

Bob Biagi (on BugGuide) id'ed this as Epeolini. New to me. Of course I had a look at the observations on our NBSBC project and found Epeolus olympiellus, so far observed for our project only on Vancouver Island. BugGuide has observations on Galiano, in Richmond, and in WA. This individual seems to be more grey than black. Male? (no spines visible at tip of abdomen?)

I noticed light brown organisms on the bee's neck, possibly mites, or eggs from a parasite?
