I initially saw only two of them scratching around on the trail. They paid me absolutely no attention and let me take a few pics until they walked to the right of the trail. I walked past them, and meant to leave them alone, only to see them cross the trail again and climb up on a fallen tree trunk right after I went by. I couldn't resist taking more pics, particularly because they seemed totally fine with me being there. Another baby then walked from where I'd originally seen the first two babies and joined them on the tree trunk. I was a little worried that the mom would come out and be angry at me, but I didn't see any adults anywhere. I was also a little concerned by how utterly unconcerned they were with me, even though we were very close to each other (I probably got within 3 feet of two of them, since they were literally on the trail and I didn't want to double back or wait until they'd left). They were also pretty thin and moving around very awkwardly and clumsily, but I guess that's just how baby raccoons are?
They mostly ignored me until the end, when the third baby actually walked towards me to get to the fallen tree, and the other two started looking at me from their tree trunk.
