Made a solitary visit to CR 364 near the Sugarloaf Mountain Bridge to observe what was there. Had not visited the area in a long time.
I pulled the spear in the 2nd photo out of my sock.

Description
I pulled this grass up thinking it was Dichanthium sericeum (silky bluestem) but noticed that it lacked the rings of white hairs around the nodes and the inflorescence looked more like a contracted panicle than a panicle of digitate spicate branches. The awns are distinctly bent. Is it really Bothriochloa barbinodis are is it just wishful thinking?

Description
First two pics show two species for comparative purposes.
Specimen on right: Note V-shaped base of flower, less dense branching, longer/narrower petals compared to Amphiachris (left; https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/34926032).
These specimens were growing adjacent to one another in the same soil type (a silty, firm sandy loam).
