Description
This little California chiton (about 10 mm) is fairly common on the bottom of rocks partially buried in sand. In addition to its distinctive off-white color, the foot is an unusual pinkish- red color. All in all, it can't be confused with any other local chiton

Description
I'm still working at separating S. heathiana from juvenile S. conspicua. At this size, I'm not 100% sure.
There is also a different chiton species in the upper righthand corner of this rock but I have no idea (yet) what it is.
