Description

Leafs are simple compound, oppositely-arranged, evergreen, dry, leathery, elliptical-ovally shaped, with undulating margins that curl unerneath. They have a hairy, felt-like underside.

Flowers are silky, graw-brown tassels. Only males produce staminate flowers. They are droopy, catcin arrangements, clustered toward the tip. Males are 3-8 inches, females are 2-3 inches.

Fruits are black-purple berries covered in white hair when fresh, only on the females.

Tree grows up to 30 feet, prominent in coastal forests.

Description

Leafs look like goose feet; palmately-lobed (3-5 lobes), simple compound, alternate arrangement, deciduous, and light hair.

Flowers are droopy terminal inflorescences, pink buds, dark red pre-bloom, 10-15 per cluster, with a light floral scent. 5 petals in a tubular shape and scattered hairs at the tip.

Fruits are 1/4-1/2 inch wide with bluish-black waxy coating.

Shrub grows 3-30 feet with burgundy twigs when fresh, gray when old.

Description

Loosely-branched with deciduous, clustered leafs. Leaf is leathry, alternately-arranged,simple, elliptically-shaped, 1 1/2-4 inches long, with small-haired margins and broad-point tips and a wedge-shaped base.

Flowers bloom March through May; red buds with overlapping scales, white flowers, orang tips. 5 petals per flower, 1-1.5 inches wide.

Fruits are round capsules clustered at the tip of the plant.

Shrub grows 3-10 feet tall with smooth gray bark. Found in coastal forests.
