I used to have many green grasshoppers, very rarely see them now...I've not seen one like this up here before, I don't think.
(4) Butt file
Group #6 They also sheltered in my bay over night

This little guy is all wound up!!
1 of 2 uncooperative critters, up under the eaves. (Are they doing this on purpose?)
Wow! This was a surprise!!
It came to within 3 ft of me!
(Side Kick was feeling under the weather & wasn't with me tonight).
Hmmm... which one do I want....
This post is for the Meadowhawk, bottom of frame!!
Whale tail! Cross-posted to Happywhale.com
Interesting colors on this one.
Juvenile
Upside down project
Enjoying a snack from the 'anti-squirrel' feeder....(Obviously doesn't apply to chipmunks....).
Below center of frame, swimming towards the left
Last week this little frog hopped out of a small rain puddle by the canoe, & hopped over to me, & chirped a couple of times.
This morning I checked to make sure I didn't step on him, no frogs to be seen. Sooo, imagine my utter astonishment when I not so gently, flipped the canoe over to go for a ride & found him perched on the gunnel!!!
I thought for sure he'd jump when I started sliding the canoe into the water,(it not being a very smooth ride!), but nope, not even when the tall grasses brushed against him, all he did was duck his head!!
I loaded everything into the canoe, & launched it,he was still bound & determined he was coming along. In pic # 6 I am actually petting his back....Not wanting him to maybe not find his way back, if he did finally jump, somewhere out in the lake, I finally slid one hand under him, & covered him with my other hand, lifting him off the gunnel, & finally he jumped, from my hands.(#7), but not very far, & looked back at me as I pushed away from the shore. And yes. when I ret'd some 30 mins later, he was still waiting in the same spot...Again never moved as I slid past & docked the canoe.
Tonight when I went down to the lake, like Side Kick & I always do, he again hopped into view, croaked a greeting, then headed over to the canoe!!
Well, I've never seen a frog act this way....Maybe I should just kiss him & see if he turns into a human....But with my luck, he would become human & I would turn into a frog....
Ah well...Meanwhile he has been named "Prince".
Here's proof I'm not just photographing the same critter.... 3 in this frame...1 snooping in the flower pot on the bench & directly underneath, 2 more are busy chasing..... (sigh).
(2)-The sneak approach----Care to guess just how long this lasted????!!
Good Lord...Even the Chipmunks are texting now.....
(Gerald file)
A penny for your thoughts...On 2nd thought...I don't think I want to know what you're thinking!!
Squirrel proof???? lol.....
CHIPMUNK proof???? LOL!!!!!!!
Judging by the puffy little cheeks.......this was a waste of $s.....Later that evening the 'Coon had a hold of it & it was shaking it back & forth to get the seeds out of it.... I took it back down. Back to the drawing board....
Oh dear...We have a "Flasher" amongst us......
Cool red boots though......
(Gerald & Goofy files)
It looks like a leucistic common grackle
"Let's see....How did I do this the last time...oh yeah, I remember now".. (up the chain & to the nyjer feeder, tail at the very top of feeder,3rd frame).
And the last frame? "I nailed it, piece of cake!!!" (Quite proud of himself).
That's him waay out there on the rock in pic #2
And fitting that one of 'my' turtles marks my 36,000 observation!! :)
Love it when they decide to pose so prettily for me!!!
That's him in the middle of the last frame!!
Continuing... Yes, I'll have an order of Dragonflies, & a side order of Waterlily borer moths please.."..
Found inside the house...Ummm...no so impressed, but he was a beauty....Tried to relocate him back outside, but he got out of the container...so he's still somewhere indoors......
Continuing-already counted-
Haven't seen this little one since early Spring!!

1 of 2 in that tree
This guy was huge!! That's my index finger beside him in pic #3.(Approx 2")
Little guy is getting braver....
(4) Hmmm....A headless goose....But never fear...it has 2 other geese helping him look for it.....
Had one heck of a time locating this guy once he landed!!!! Fortunately he was very patient.
Continuing...That looks like fun, think I'll
try it now.....And MY splashings are bigger than yours!!' (anything you can do, I can do better....)
One of my corn loving muskrats..".I don't care about you, dog...I'm hungry and I'm coming in for my treats".....
Little guy came to within 3 ft of the dog..promptly started chowing down on the cracked corn....And yes...the dog got treats for being such a good lad, when we got back home.
Feeding time for Dad and his young one.
Pick and choose...have almost the same meaning. I like it when butterflies choose my flowers, but I am not sure how I feel about them picking my flowers. :D
Hitching a ride :)
Another first time visitor to the backyard (when I was looking.) You gotta love migration seasons.
Just a family disagreement :)
Post is for the Blue Jay
Two juveniles-just hanging together
him so comfy
Buzz was resting when I first arrived at the pond. He would later head into the water and start bathing.
He's so small, even compared to the baby Canada Geese!
Costa’s Hummingbird bottom of photo.
Phainopepla sharing the fountain with a second Finch.
This fellow was waaay up in the tamarack...mouthing off big time. Too bad the sun lit up the branch in front of him..And he left as soon as I tried for a better angle...(what else is new!!).
A single Moose crossing the busy 4 lane trans Canada highway.
The first pic is like me when I go out in public. The 2nd pic is how I look the rest of the time. :)
A Brown Thrasher does a battle dance with an Eastern Copperhead. Unlike when I watched one dance with a black snake a few years back, this Brown Thrasher didn't physically attack the snake. The copperhead is documented with different pictures in a separate observation.

I found it again! Poor thing was on the ground, so I placed it back up in the tree. Good luck little guy!
