This tree is growing on the south side of the Molino de Agua property and overhangs calle Aquiles Serdan. A passerby claimed that it was the last remaining cottonwood tree in Vallarta. Is she right ?
Álamo is the Spanish word for cottonwood.

Populus angustifolia inhabits slopes but near seepage areas. Its leaves are narrow and have a distinctively short petiole. Populus angustifolia like all species of Populus, and unlike species the related Salix, has terminal sappy (sticky) buds each with multiple scales. This stand of Populus angustifolia grows at the top of Peets Hill and at the north end of Burke Park, Bozeman, Gallatin County, Montana.
The last photo was taken in 1993 and shows the same stand of Populus angustifolia to the left center background. This stand is still prospering as of 2022.
