Apologies about the truly awful picture quality, but this was a lifetime encounter for me! A (probably) long eared owl right outside my window!
A little smaller than a rook, maybe jackdaw size. Surprised at how small it actually was.
I am assuming it is a long eared from the dark above the eyes next to the white feather tufts. They seem to be lighter than a short eared owl's. But short eared is still within question.
Seemed to be searching around a tree to the left of the frame, landed on the car next to it, stayed there for maybe a minute before searching and landing in the tree (rather clumsily) and shortly flew off to the right of the frame. I would assume it was hunting.
Pics best looked at with blurry eyes, or from a distance, I would think.

Heard calling in flight over Clarisford Park, flying south over Lough Derg/River Shannon. Hesitant to confirm this as an osprey as they are incredibly rare here and the first naturalized breeding pair in over 200 years was found last August in County Fermanagh.
