Description
Killdeer, doing "broken-wing" distraction display. Salt Marsh Nature Center trail, Marine Park, Brooklyn, NY. Between east segment of trail by marsh & "Lookout Hill" in upland area. Nest not seen (not looked for) but from bird's behavior obviously nearby. Killdeer nest in the area regularly. Description
There are several pairs of nesting ospreys at Jamaica bay. It's very close to JFK...the planes roar by every couple minutes, and in some places you can get a view of manhattan. It's a good place to observe since no one seems to go there except birders.
