Possibly only the second nest found in Sydney. First in 2016 at Ingleside.
I heard a couple calling and thought they were A. perulata. I went to investigate since I don’t have many A. perulata observations this summer. When I located it and saw it I realised it lacked wing infuscations and the colour and wing markings were not typical of A. perulata. I realised that this was A. interclusa so I caught one for photos. New species for me!
First 2 pics - male
next 2 - female

Fmales emerging on forest red gum and nearby (~1m away) not-locally-native gum tree. See later pics when it has coloured up.
Student Observation (AG):
No way! I haven’t seen a Yellow Monday in suburban Sydney in years! (although I don’t know if this is just my experience?) This was a jaw-drop moment when the student showed me.
3 emerging on paperbark
Male - washed up dead on beach
This is an example of what is in the bush where I am. There are cicadas everywhere - almost like flies - particularly the black princes.
Wavering firetail
Yoyetta 513
Photographed this guy calling before another climbed down and they had a sing-off right next to each other :)
A third male calling from a nearby blackthorn shrub.
Heaps all the way out along the headland.
Followed a calling male only to find him trying to chat up the female (successfully by the looks of things ... although she was playing hard to get)
Another male calling nearby as well.
Sound recording too.
Found this individual because I heard a cicada call I didn't recognise. When I followed it back to its source, lo and behold, there was a cherrynose cicada.
This is the first and only one I have ever seen or heard so this was an exciting find for me!
