UPDATE 6/12: I got a better recording, which I've added here and is now the first file.
Poor recording, for which I apologize. The tragedies of living on a busy suburban street; loud neighbors, overhead planes, cars, and an inconvenient catbird. The sound pollution we live with on a daily basis is astounding...
One, potentially two, though I couldn't be certain, M. septendecim individual(s) singing from across the street for about two hours on and off. It was faint but clear and unmistakable, even though it came out a lot less clear in the recordings. I don't think it was far away - possibly just 50-100 ft from where I was standing. I heard it as soon as I walked out the door and had to stand there listening to make sure I wasn't imagining things! I am outside in the yard every day and this is the first time I've heard it.
Hard to pick out in the recordings I realize, as it's sort of an ambient drone, but best heard when it drops off the first time at 00:13 in the first recording. That dropoff can be heard less clearly another two times in the second recording.
The serendipity of finding not one, but now two unexpected Magicicada stragglers this year when not at all looking for them really makes me believe there are many more out there just not being detected!

Description
West DuPage Woods: warming quickly to a fairly hot afternoon. Intense choruses of cassinii with a background of septendecim (most notable in forest areas with mature trees). Choruses peaked at 101.8 dB at the prairie margins. A fair number of cassinii had some degree of orange on the sternite margins; no decula were heard, but lots of cassinii ticking and various phases of courtship calls.
A poor connection between my shotgun mic and phone disrupted a few of the recordings.
This recording was made among a stand of sumac saplings where both septendecim and cassinii were singing various phases of courtship songs, with lots of mating pairs and ovipositing females present.
