Eating a skink. Starling and robin both trying to get some.
I couldn't tell what it was in the field and thought it might be a small snake.

Well, this is one of the stranger wildlife interactions I’ve had in my yard. I’m sitting out here working with my laptop and a bag of M&Ms and this butterfly flies towards me and goes straight for the bag. I stare in disbelief as it climbs in, fumble for my phone, and snap a few shots before it climbs out and flies away.

.5 to .75 DM tall. Strong/wondefrul odor like floral cloves. 15 stems in flower. Found by smell(first smelled while biking). This is on National Forest Land. It is about 10 feet from a black locust flagged for cutting by the NFS fire crew. I put two pink flags around the population.
One of the most beautiful fragrances I have ever experienced.
