City Nature Challenge 2024: Spokane County's Journal

April 27, 2024

Great first day, everyone!

Well done today, everybody!

We've collected over 200 observations so far, many of which are research-grade!

Thank you to everyone who went outside and explored our region to collect data. And thank you, too, to all the folks that helped us look through the observations to hone in on the right identification for them. Both jobs are incredibly important to this process!

We'll keep it going tomorrow. Let's all keep our fingers crossed for some sun to peak out of the clouds this weekend!

Are you all ready?!

Tomorrow is the start of the City Nature Challenge here in Spokane County and we are very excited!

We have a handful of groups going out and hope many others of you can join us on your own or in your own group to collect data with us this year.

Last year we had over 900 observations over the course of the weekend - let's see if we can beat that! I know we can!

Have fun, be safe, and let's explore!

A month away!

As winter fades into spring in classic Spokane fashion, we grow more and more excited for this year's City Nature Challenge!

Join us in gathering research-grade observation of all species in Spokane County during the four days of the challenge (April 26th - April 29th)!

If you'd like to participate, but aren't sure how, feel free to join one of our guided trips and submit data as part of a group. Register on our events page to join a guided experience: www.inlandnwland.org/events
