Unfortunately, the Study Group Echinocereus has disbanded as of 31 December 2023.

Hello,
my name is Wolfgang Blum, I am an active founding member of the Sudy Group Echinocereus of the German Cactus Society.
I have been collecting Echinocerea since 1978.
In the beginning I followed the taxonomy of L.D. Benson and later that of N.P. Taylor. After the Study Group Echinocereus had been established and a lot of information had been added, I had to realise that N.P. Taylor did not fit one hundred percent either. In 1993 I started working on my own taxonomy for the genus Echinocereus, which led to a co-operation with Michael Lange, Werner Rischer & Jürgen Rutow. This synergy resulted in the book "Echinocereus".
The book about this fine genus Echinocereus (Cactaceae) was published in 1998 in english and german.
496 pages, 215 color images, 13 distribution maps, 35 SEM images, 12 new descriptions and 30 combinations.
