iNaturalist: Beginning
Found a place to keep all my photo-documented nature sightings. Will continue to use eBird.org for non-photo bird lists, butterfliesandmoths.org, odonatacentral.org, and bugguide.net for insect ID confirmations (will cross-list here for Life list purposes)

Welcome to iNaturalist! I've found it to be a supremely great database and community of naturalists. The data is indeed used too -- research grade observations go to the GBIF database, and that's frequently used by scientists and land managers. Rather than collecting digital dust, nature photos can be used by others as you upload them. It's great!
