October 31, 2021 Clean Up the Ravine Day

I hope to see you all out on our fall clean up day starting at the Beech Ave entrance to the ravine.

It will also be a good last chance to add some observations of plants to the project before they all die for the winter.

Please keep uploading observations to the project. This will help us in our Site Assessments for our Stewardship Program, especially in Glen Stewart Park and around the Balsam entrance to the ravine.

Thank you

Cherie Daly

Thank you,Suzie and Samantha for adding to the project.

If you choose a photo to represent you in your profile it will be helpful. It doesn't have to be of you if you don't want to.

Value of Native plants to feed caterpillars which feed birds, especially those with young

Check this out. You need to use a Zip code. I used one for Watertown NY 13601. It generates a list of plants ranked according to the butterflies they attract (caterpillars).

Philadelphia Fleabane, a native wildflower at my cottage attracts 21 species in that zip code area. Probably similar here. That's a lot for a plant my gardeners normally cut down, but not this year.
