Two live snails observed in close proximity to each other. Both had fallen down banks onto a track adjoining bush and scrubland.
I understand that Paryphanta busbyi watti has been separated from P. busbyi at subspecific level but there is no subspecies option on this site. Any gastropod curators out there?
Just in the middle of the path. Really translucent shell and not the same as the garden snails.
Didn't touch so do not know if anyone was home :)
On a side track off the Whangakea Track.
Found beside the track - both dead.
Walking out Pandora track and found this Kauri snail.
Another complete surprise. This unusual Trinchesia sp. (from skips nudibranchs). It was just crawling over some bryozoans but quickly tucked away sadly.
~0.5cm long
~2m subtidal
An empty but quite fresh shell. Within pig proof fence.
Found two. Both dead. One (last two photos), was the smallest I have seen. Bit odd though as apart from a few Bassia, I didn't see any of what I think would be prey organisms? Also very calm. With no wind
Found buried in sand while snorkling
