These Western Honey Bees are dead on a hive that seems to have been placed here, presumably by pest control. All of the bees were dead, but some clung to the hive lifelike. The honeycombs were mostly dry.
I don't think there was an alive bee hive here in this tree hallow, so I'm assuming it was placed here.
Sunning on ground warming itself, temp about 55 degrees, near 2,000 ft elevation
Attached by mouthparts to an ornamental shrub, a dozen or so.

Some sort of seed?? I have no idea.
I found this while digging through some rotting wood from the forest floor.
